Who we are

The Old Farm Property Owners Association was established in 1969 by University of Texas professors who shared a love for Lake Travis, nature and community. A few of the original members continue to live in the community to this day.

How is the Colorado River in Texas?

The Colorado River in Texas is a 862-mile long river that flows entirely within the state's borders, starting in Dawson County and emptying into Matagorda Bay. Named the Colorado River because Spanish explorers saw the red clay in the water and called it Rio Colorado or colored river. It is known as the "lifeblood of the state" due to its significant impact on the state's economy, environment, and agriculture. The river is also notable for its role in creating the Highland Lakes in the Hill Country region, a series of reservoirs that include Lake Buchanan, Lake Travis, and Lady Bird Lake (formerly known as Town Lake).
